Thirst

My son Maximus invited me and my daughter Madison to a Special Person’s Dinner tonight. He is 6 years old and very excited….about everything.

He is a special kid. The way he interprets things is unique and calculated. His mind is constantly going. He has 17 ideas and a mapped out plan to accomplish them in the order he chooses. He has been deemed gifted through a battery of tests. His perspective and creativity are astonishing.

I am not just saying it because he is my child. His level of understanding is very advanced for his age. It frustrates him because at times he is not mature enough to handle the emotion that comes along with the gifts. It is amazing to me how profoundly different each of my children have been created.

I am a father of 6 children. Each of them beautifully and wonderfully made in His image and their personalities are each unique and I thank our Creator for that everyday.

Anyway, back to what I had begun writing about in the first place.

He invited us to go to the dinner….

We are sitting there and all of a sudden I got approached and asked to bless the event and dinner.

It was sudden but I accepted. I thought ok Lord just guide me through. I am young in my journey with Him. I got up in front of the crowd and asked them to bow their heads.

I began to pray and ask for His blessings for the Veterans and people in attendance. I asked that he bless the food and wrap us up in His love and closed with an “In your name we pray” but the last few words came out a little weak. I got really nervous and self conscious. I got dry mouth and my voice began to quiver a little as I closed out the prayer. I felt like Peter when he was walking on the water to Jesus and he took his eyes off of him for a second and fell in the water.

I know that wasn’t God. God is faithful.

That was the enemy prowling like a lion to prey on me in a weak moment.

We are so much more than our earthly existence. We house such a power within. It is awe inspiring to think Holy Spirit wants to dwell within us and keep us satiated. Rivers of flowing water is our promise.

If we taste that the Lord is good we will never be thirsty again.

At the very least I was able to hold on to the end and recognize what had happened.

John 6:35

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty!

1 Peter 2:2

Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation

If we can continue to approach reading the Bible like a child, we can receive the word with a childlike absorption and gain the understanding we need to be in communion with God.

The next opportunity I have will be embraced with joy and blessed by Holy Spirit.

Have a blessed day!
