Philippians 3:16

“Only let us live up to what we have already attained.”

This is where things get difficult. It is a daily struggle to be sure to keep in what God wants for us to do. It is hard to find the strength everyday to be self aware. Or maybe that is the largest problem of all.

When we are self aware, we are surrounding ourselves with what is familiar. When we accept that Christ died on the Cross for the forgiveness of sins and we die to ourselves, we shed the skin of our old lives and put on a new skin by the renewing of our minds.

We do not allow for the words and actions of others to dictate how we conduct ourselves. We are not ashamed to talk about God, to share our faith, and wholeheartedly put on the full armor of God.

Ephesians 6:13-17 New International Version (NIV)

13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

It is difficult to adorn this awesome responsibility. It is difficult to also accept that God so loved us that he gave and continues to give His Grace to us on a daily basis.

We forget when we continue to seek earthly things, run in familiar circles, surround ourselves with people and things of comfort.

Why would you pour new wine into an old wineskin? Why would you fill yourself up with things of light and insist on living in darkness?

Over time you will find peace in the word. You will find comfort in the truth of Jesus. You will surround yourself with things that are in the light and put into practice the things you have already attained.

That, my friends, is the sweet spot.

When we can remove the Veil we hide behind and start walking out the truth of why we were created we can truly be who God has intended us to be.

Live in hope. Love with all of your heart. Seek things from above and store your treasures up in heaven. Give to others and live your life in the service of others. Allow kindness to be adorned like a crown on your head and follow the path carved out for you by Him.

These are the words of the Lord to be walked out in faith.

Have an amazing day! Go Be Awesome!

  1. I retired last February with my last boss being a full born challenge against my christian faith. I believe God put him there for me to make the decision to retire. I admit I am a little stubborn in not willing to quit on a situation but enough was enough. Now I have a new possible way to serve God but do not want to rush in and take over. I pray for His wisdom in showing me how. Thank you for your post of encouragement and self awareness.

    1. It is one of the hardest things to break away from when we die to ourselves, pick up our Cross and follow Him. We have been conditioned by life to look out for number 1 when all this time number 1 should have been Our relationship with God. Everything else becomes so much more clear when we submit and let Him lead and guide us. I am glad it resonated with you.
