Resolutions and Revelations

Resolutions are interesting. We put a bulls eye on what we want to accomplish and either run like heck towards it or half heartedly put forth effort into achieving a goal and within a week, month, etc we abandon it and believe it “just wasn’t meant to be” or “wasn’t in God’s plans for us this year”.

Truth be told, we really don’t know what God has in store for us. We can spend countless hours chasing after what we think will make us happy or we can spend some time with God and experience the true joy of what He wants for us.

I was reading 1 John 4 and 5 yesterday and the revelation of who God is really expressed itself through the scripture.

God is Love.

With that being said: Where do you find the most joy in your life?

Now I am not talking about what makes you happy. I am talking about something more permanent. Happiness is fleeting. Happy occurs in an instant. Pure joy is felt, experienced, and carried on.

So, I ask again…. Where do you find the most joy in your life?

I know most of my joy is felt in moments with my children and my wife. I know when my kids do something they didn’t think was possible it gives me joy. I correlate that directly with the love I feel for them and the yearning I have for them to grow, learn, and develop.

Tie it all together. God is love. My children and I are an expression of His love and through this love I experience true joy.

Knowing God and experiencing joy go hand in hand. Once you have this revelation you will not pursue it half heartedly.

As you look to the new year, look to God. Look to relationship with Him. Look for your direct correlation and experience true joy in 2019.

Have an amazing New Year and I know you will go from resolution to revelation. God Bless!
