Freedom does not come without sacrifice.
America was built on a promise and formed through blood, sweat, and tears. Brave men sacrificed themselves to help solidify the foundation on which this country has been built.
Freedom rings in the United States on a daily basis but never more loud or more proud than on the 4th of July.
Today I want to speak of a different type of freedom.
A freedom that comes with:
A freedom that has ended in great men seeing their end in the interest of offering truth.
It also comes with a promise. It also comes with peace. It also comes with an unexplainable feeling and presence to go through life knowing you are not alone.
It is what we all want, right?
We all wake up everyday either feeling fulfilled and whole or searching for truth.
How often do you say to yourself:
- Something is missing.
- When will it get better?
- What am I doing wrong?
- Something needs to change.
We all want the answer and find ourselves believing it won’t get better or the answer is too elusive or hidden.
So what is it? How do you acquire it and at what cost?
In order to get what you are looking for you have to give up what was never yours in the first place.
Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.
We were not created for ourselves. We were created for God and by God to fulfill his purpose for us.
There is your sacrifice. Give up the idea of you for the sake of Him.
Here is where we find ourselves in a quandary of skepticism. Here is where we allow our World View to intervene and confuse the truth.
The truth is God’s plan for your life may interrupt your idea how your life should progress.
The substance of who you are; your true identity is found in Jesus.
If My people, which are called by My Name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land
We are all called to be different but all called to be found in our purpose through renewal and rebirth.
That is where our true freedom is derived.
If we put off the old and put on the new. If we filter out the bad things and filter in the good. If we look diligently at our lives with a burning purpose that ends with us knowing who we are because of what God says we can lived fulfilled.
It has a rippling effect on everything else and everyone else around us.
Open your Bible today and read Colossians and Galatians. Those two books alone will give you a good start to a great transformation.
Have a blessed 4th of July!
